family that came from Normanby near Pickering, Robert was the school master
there in the late 1790's/early 1800's.
Thomas LIDDLE
Born.
1760 at Normanby, Yorkshire, England. He was married to Mary Huddleston, b.
1764, at Normanby on 27 Dec 1788. Their daughter, Ann, c. 3 Nov 1799,
married Robert Ellis at Pickering, North Yorkshire in 1816. Robert and Ann
had several children at Pickering before emigrating to America in 1830, where
four more children were born at Onondaga County, New York. Robert and Ann are both
buried at Cascade, Dubuque County, Iowa.
Hannah HESSELTINE
died 9th June 1865, at Salton, relict of the late Mr. Phillip Hesseltine, of
Normanby, aged 90 years.
Mrs. ROBINSON, buried in
York Minster
October, 1634. Probably Frances, the first
wife of Luke Robinson, esq., of Thornton-Riseborough, and daughter of
Phineas Hodson, D.D., chancellor of York. She was baptized at St.
Michael's-le-Belfrey, 11 March, 1614-15, and married there, 9 May, 1633. Her
only daughter, who became the wife of Thos. Strangeways, esq., of Pickering,
was baptized in the same church, 27 March 1634.
